Working on a lesson tonight in a workbook about the apostle Paul, and I came across this phrase that smacked me right in the face.
“Sometimes more effort is required to keep rolling the stone back over the tomb than simply to cooperate with the work He seeks to finish in us.”
We seek God’s guidance, and when he works to change us we fight it every step of the way. We want to be in control of our lives despite saying that we give control to God. We want things to go the way we want, rather than how God wants them to go. We spend more time rolling the stone back over the tomb than we do to cooperating with God. Despite all we say and do we do not know what’s best. But God does. And “He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Jesus Christ.” (Philippians 1:6)
